A Must Have Survival Kit for Your Destination Wedding

The following is a list of MUST HAVES to bring with you for Your Destination Wedding !

These are all small items which can easily fit into your bag, or your Maid of Honor's bag. If you wanted to, you could have a few engraved with the date and they could also serve as favors!

Never travel without bandaids..you never know!! These also might cost you a small fortune at any resort.

Clear nail polish can serve many purposes. It can stop a run in your stockings as well as cover up any chipped nails.

Breath mints, like Altoids are also a definite MUST!!

Try to keep a small bottle of hairspray in the bag too..This will also come in handy especially if you're having a beach wedding and it's a bit windy that day. Also comes in handy for quick touch ups before taking your pictures.

Small packages of stain remover, I also recommend.

Having Fun with Signs at Your Destination Wedding

Whether you're having a Destination Wedding in the sun or in the snow, try to use nature's elements for creative signs. The use of bark or driftwood can personalize your special day, while serving very useful purposes. Signs will keep your guests moving in the right direction. If you decide to use your own handwriting on them, all the better!

One of my personal favorites for signage, is chalk boards. They can be used to post your menu and look terrific in your pictures. A colored chalk goes a long way and can add to your color theme.

They also serve as great mementos should you wish to take a few home. You can also hang them in your home. What a great story you'll have to tell your grandchildren, one day!

For those who were unable to attend, simply write a message in the sand.

For many more Destination Wedding ideas, please speak with a qualified Destination Wedding Planner.

Remember to have fun with your signs and keep it simple.

First Steps for Planning Your Destination Wedding

You've decided to have a Destination Wedding...What do you do next?

Here are a few easy tips for you to follow, not only as the Bride and Groom, but as the Hosts of this celebration.

Choose a date and a location. If you're stuck choosing your dream location, contact a Destination Wedding Specialist, immediately.

You will probably notice before you decide exactly where you'd like to go, you'll be receiving alot of unsolicited ideas and advice from well meaning friends and family.

Now that you've picked a location and date get the word out to all those you want to attend. You can do this on your wedding website or by sending out "Save the Date" cards.
Try to do this at least six months in advance.

It is NOT your responsibility to take reservations or special requests from any guests. But, do remember that it's their vacation too, even though they'll be joining you. Everybody has a life, work and perhaps children to make arrangements for while they'll be away. That's why it's very important to give them as much notice as possible.

Always try to work with a experienced Destination Wedding Specialist. Their knowledge and expertise will relieve your stress and provide you with perks you were probably never aware existed.

Have all your guests contact your Destination Wedding Planner. Provide them with their coordinates as soon as possible. They might have questions and you might not have the answer. Not to mention, you'll be busy planning your wedding.

The Power of Flowers

One item you'll definitely save money on when having a Destination Wedding is the flowers.

Flowers can transform the ordinary into extraordinary with a little imagination.

If you're having a color themed wedding, you may opt to decorate your aisle using the same palate.

I love to see flowers hanging over the chairs at the ceremony as well.

Petals down the sandy aisle can be spectacular. Just be careful not to go too dark in the middle of the aisle as this may discolor the bride's dress.

Flowers add a touch of romance to any venue. Go crazy or keep it simple, any way you choose to use them, flowers will add understated glamour.

My all time favorite use for flowers at a Destination Wedding is to fill light bulbs half way with water and add your choice of flowers. Again, keeping them all uniform or mixing it up. Hang them from tree branches or over your canopy. Either way this is sure to be a conversation starter!

Of course you'll use them as center pieces, and perhaps even dress your cake up with them.

As always, your destination wedding planner will have many more great ideas for you.
