My Job as a Destination Wedding Planner

Through the years I've planned many Destination Weddings and Honeymoons.
I'm a Travel Consultant/Destination Wedding Planner/Honeymoon Specialist.
To some, I've become a confidant and very good friend.
Couples can find me on the Internet, but most of the time it's from a referral.
At this time, the initial contact is by email or phone.  If the couple is local, we usually set up a meeting to discuss exactly what type of travel arrangements they're looking for, and their general expectations.

Don't get me wrong, I deal with many couples who don't live in the same city and we make all their plans over the phone and by email.
After our first meeting I take all the information I've received from my clients and do my best to come up with ideas that best suit their travel needs.  After so many years I get a good feel for what the couple expects and start the process of making their vision a reality.
Because I've been in the same industry for so long, I'm very fortunate to have excellent contacts.  Being Virtuoso Accredited is also a huge bonus for all my clients.

Once the couple has decided where and when they'd like to travel, I go ahead and start inquiring as to the rates and availability.  For Destination Weddings, rates can take up to five working days.
Now that a destination and hotel has been selected, reservations are confirmed.  Guests for Destination Weddings will receive an email from me with all my contact information and their rates.  They are given a deadline to submit a deposit, usually no more than $250.00 per person in order to secure a room and their rates.  Final payment is due 60 days prior to departure.
At this point, the wedding couple decides whether or not they'd like me to plan their actual Destination Wedding.  For this service, their is a slight charge to cover my time and long distance charges.
I've arranged for two people barefoot on the beach as well as 300 in a lavish tent with all the trimmings.
My schedule is fairly flexible and I usually meet with couples in the evening or on week ends, whichever they prefer.

Pinterest, Facebook and social media in general has made it very easy for me to share my ideas.
From inception to execution, I'm here for my clients and their guests.

Color Coordinating

When you begin to planning Your Destination Wedding, you may want to consider your personal color scheme.
These colors can carry through from invitations to Thank You Notes.
In between, you can use the same colors for your wedding party and decorations.  On the other hand, you can use random colors and have everything a different color.  Always a personal choice.
Some of my personal favorites are bright colors for a beach wedding.
Try to maximize the spectacular sunset, amazing ocean, and beautiful beach as much as possible.  These don't cost you anything and always add to your pictures.
If on the other hand, you've decided to have your bridal party in a particular color, you might want to match the bouquets to the dresses..
You may decide not to have a color scheme at all, and have everybody wear whatever they choose.
Another great alternative which makes it very easy for your bridal party.
No matter what you choose, try to keep in mind your guests are spending alot of money to celebrate with you so try to keep the costs within their budget.
As always, your Destination Wedding Planner will have many more ideas for you.

Decorating your Ceremony for Your Destination Wedding

Most all inclusive resorts and resorts will offer a "wedding decoration package". Generally, these packages will start at $250.00 for basic decorations and go all the way up to $5,000.00.

As with everything, this is strictly a personal choice. Some brides feel more comfortable purchasing their decorations at home and either traveling with them or shipping in advance. This way they know their colors and don't have to reply on pictures that may not be 100% accurate.

One of the main reasons you've chosen to have a Destination Wedding is to have a bit more of a "laid back" atmosphere. There are so many choice and options available it's hard to choose!

A tent for your ceremony and reception on the beach would be one of the most extravagant options.

Just as beautiful are rose petals and ribbons.

One of my all time favorite are mason jars and their many uses!
No matter which you choose, try to make sure it reflects your personality. Always remember to take advantage of the simplicity of a sunset and the beach. Try to use nature's elements as much as possible.

As always, Your Destination Wedding Planner will have many more ideas for you.

Adding a Personal Touch for Your Destination Wedding

Your Destination Wedding is all about you and your marriage, but never forget that your guests have come a long way and spent money to help you celebrate.

It's always thoughtful to give them something memorable, not necessarily expensive to mark this occassion.

Here are a few simple ideas to share..

For a beach wedding, why not put out a pair of flip flops for everybody, and maybe even add plastic sunglasses? Mix the colors up, and you can even have them personalized if you so choose.

You might want to use square vases as center pieces, that have picture frames. After the ceremony have somebody collect them. Fill the frames with pictures from your special day and give them out as favors.

One of my personal favorites are tote bags. These bags come in very handy, whether you're having a Destination Wedding in the sand or the snow. Again, you may decide to have these personalized with your names, the date, and the location.

All the items I've suggested are easy to pack or ship ahead.

Of course, your Destination Wedding Planner will have many more ideas that may better suit your personality.
